A hydrophilizing agent for hydrophobic porous films characterized by containinga surfactant which has such frothing properties that a 0.1 mass% aqueous solutionof the surfactant has a froth height of 40 mm or lower as measured immediately afterfrothing at 25°C by the Ross-Miles method (JIS K 3362). Preferably, it furtherhas such frothing properties that the froth height as measured at 5 minutes afterfrothing is 20 mm or lower. Also provided are: a method of hydrophilizing a hydrophobicporous film which comprises using the hydrophilizing agent; and a method of inspecting/hydrophilizinga film module which comprises using the hydrophilizing agent.
