The separation method involves conducting fluid in liquid state through a rotor to centrifugally separate a second liquid e.g. water, from a first liquid e.g. mineral oil, and conducting the fluid into a tank (8) to reduce the proportion of the second liquid to less than 5 percent. The fluid is then conducted through a valve (9) after centrifugal separation to reduce the pressure of the fluid. Portions of the fluid are evaporated, so that further portions of the second liquid escape in form of gas which is conducted away, further reducing proportion of the second liquid. An independent claim is also included for a device for separation of a fluid in the liquid state comprising two liquids that are not mutually miscible, with different densities, wherein a first liquid is to be cleansed from a second liquid.
