Use of a procedure for the production of hydrogen and nano-carbon comprising introducing at least a part of a hydrocarbon-containing feed gas into a reformer, contacting the feed gas with a catalyst and converting to hydrogen and solid carbon, for the direct production of a hydrogen-containing gas at filling stations for distribution to a consumer, preferably motor vehicles. Independent claims are included for: (1) a gas station plant comprising an inlet for a hydrocarbon-containing feed gas, a reformer, which exhibits a catalyst, an exhaust gas pipe line suitable for hydrogen transport, a compressor or a cooling device, a tapping device suitable for the discharge of hydrogen-containing liquid or gas, preferably optionally a storage tank for either a cooled, liquid hydrogen-containing fluid or hydrogen-containing gas under pressure; (2) a device, for the production of hydrogen-containing gas, comprising a reactor exhibiting an inlet for a hydrocarbon-containing feed gas, an inlet for a catalyst suitable for the cracking of hydrocarbons to hydrogen and solid carbon, a reactor zone with the catalyst, a discharge port for a reactor gas, a discharge port for the catalyst (where the reactor is designed for continuous operation and the inlet and discharge ports are arranged in such a manner that the catalyst can be fed counter current to the direction of feed gas in the reactor zone), a cooling and a heating zone, where the feed gas inlet is present in the cooling zone; and (3) a procedure, for the production of a hydrogen-containing gas in the reactor, comprising operating the reactor continuously, and heating the counter current to the direction of feed gas in the catalyst and the feed gas flowing in the direction of the discharge port of the reactor gas.
