A high-pressure water jet is directed into the rotating tubes via at least one fixed position injector whenever a tube passes this injector. A system for cooling clinker during a cement production process involving the use of a rotary oven which discharges the clinker into tubes that are arranged around and rotate with the oven. Cooling is carried out by injecting at least one jet of water at constant high pressure into the tubes via at least one fixed position injector. The jet is directed into the tube whenever it passes the injector, which is connected to a pressurized water circuit.
