A culture medium for the specific identification and / or differentiation of Candida yeast albicans and Candida tropicalis, comprising a chromogenic substrate or fluorigenic, susceptible to be hydrolyzed by an enzyme from the group of hexosaminidase, characterized in that, the medium further comprises at least one selectively inhibiting compound hexosaminidase activity of C. tropicalis.
