A THIN FILM DENTURE RELINER BONDING AID AND A PROCESS OF SECURING DENTURES IN THE ORAL CAVITY

This invention is a process for bonding a denture (1, 10) to thetissue surfaces of the jaw over which the denture is superimposed duringuse. This comprises the steps of providing at the interface of the dentureand the jaw's tissues a liquid irreversible hydrocolloid of an alginatedental impression formulation (5, 15); applying pressure to the dentureso that it presses into the tissue surfaces, causing the liquid hydrocolloidto flow within such interface; and allowing the hydrocolloid to solidifywithin the interface. Also described is a novel relatively thin film,setting hydrocolloid denture aid, the set, and the cushiony thin filmdenture aid obtained from it.
