PREMIXED FORMULATION OF PIPERACILLIN SODIUM AND TAZOBACTAM SODIUM INJECTION

The present invention provides a premixed form of a buffered piperacillinproduct having a near neutral pH andcapable of a shelf life of at least nine months, with freezer storage (-20°C or lower), or a refrigerated shelf life of up to 14 days atabout 5 °C. The piperacillin may additionally contain a tazobactamcomponent to inactivate beta-lactamases that commonly causeresistance to penicillins, allowing the piperacillin component to destroysusceptible bacteria. With the addition of dextrose, thepremixed composition is physiologically isosmotic.
