Tetrapeptide L-alanyl-L-glutamyl-L-aspartyl-glycine of the general formulaL-Ala-L-Glu-L-Asp-Gly is proposed as a biologically active compound with ageroprotective effect. The use ofL-Ala-L-Glu-L-Asp-Gly tetrapeptide in medicine is proposed for preparing asubstance displaying ageroprotective effect. There is proposed a pharmacological substance, whichcontains as its active basean effective amount of tetrapeptide of the formula L-alanyl-L-glutamyl-L-aspartyl-glycine(L-Ala-L-Glu-L-Asp-Gly) or its salts of the amino group (acetate,hydrochloride, oxalate) and of carboxylgroups (the salts of metals-Sodium, Potassium, Calcium, Lithium, Zinc,Magnesium, and also thesalts of organic and inorganic cations-ammonium and triethylammonium). Thesubstance is proposedfor parenteral, intranasal, oral administration, and local application. Withrespect to the invention, themethod of premature ageing prevention involves prophylactic and/or therapeuticadministration to apatient of the pharmacological substance in doses of 0.01 to 100 µg/kg ofbody weight at least once aday for a period necessary for the achievement of a therapeutic effect.
