METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MONITORING CORPORATE GOVERNANCE COMPLIANCE

A method of monitoring or assisting in compliance by corporations and similarentitieswith various governance requirements using an independent third partyinformationsystem. Entities who are users of the system enter or update entity dataassociated withthe entity, shareholders, directors or other parties associated therewith forstorage in aentity database in a computer memory. A rules database contains compliancerulescodifying the internal or external governance controls applicable to theentity in questionand can trigger certain events including the creation of alerts or informationto users orsubscribers of the system, or the conduct of other specific tasks, based onthe specificentity data uploaded to the entity database. The independent nature of thesystemprovides a level of comfort for parties relying on the data contained withinthe entitydatabase. Apparatus for the implementation of the method is also disclosed.
