Disclosed is a method for detection of a condition in a consciousness disorder patient. The method comprises analyzing the amount and/or activity of a von Willebrand factor-cleaving enzyme in the patient. Also disclosed is a kit for detecting a condition in a consciousness disorder patient. The kit comprises an antibody capable of binding specifically to a von Willebrand factor-cleaving enzyme or a fragment of the antibody, or von Willebrand factor or a fragment thereof. Examples of the detection of cerebral vascular disorder, the detection of a condition include the detection of arteriosclerotic angiopathy or the detection or prediction of the degree of severity.
