The present invention relates to a system for designing and implementing an experiment for evaluating effectiveness of pieces of content in a digital signage system having a plurality of players, the system comprising an experiment design processor configured to balance and counterbalance the order with which the pieces of content are shown at locations in the digital signage system and generate playlists and schedules for presentation of the pieces of content on the plurality of players, a plurality of player controllers, each of the player controller configured to control content presentation on one or more players, an experiment deployment unit configured to format the pieces of content for various player configuration and facilitate the transfer of the pieces of content to the plurality of player controllers for presenting the pieces of content on the players as specified by the generated playlists and schedules.
