The present invention provides a method determining TFF1 CpG methylation of genomic DNA by means of a novel assay. Said assay having utility for determining methylation rates of specific CpG sites within a region of the TFF1 gene, from which certain diagnostic decisions and/or prognostic information may be deduced. It is especially suited for predicting the survival and/or treatment response of a patient diagnosed with a cell proliferative disorder of the breast tissues.
