A cartridge magazine (2) for a handgun (1) which at its lower end has a base (7) which is or can be closed and at its upper end has an opening (9), from which in each case one cartridge (8) is supplied to the handgun, is surrounded, at least over the majority of it, by an integral, elastic and removable casing (13) for protection against dirt and sand. The casing (13) is like a sack and is placed inverted over the cartridge magazine (2), so that the edge (16) of the casing (13) makes contact in the vicinity of the bottom (7) of the cartridge magazine (2).
