The invention relates to the expansion of 'synthetic vision' technology which increases efficiency thereof. Pre-calculations of properties of the landscape (7) and objects (3, 4, 5, 6) are carried out enabling relevant accessible information to be coded, objects to be identified, etc. in the image information, making them available during image analysis without additional calculations. This allows the synthetic image (1) to be evaluated in an efficient manner. As a result, agents in dynamically virtual surroundings, for example, in simulation or computer games, can be navigated in an improved or accelerated manner.
