The invention relates to methods and an assembly of devices for filing and searching accounting-relevant data in a computer-assisted branch system. Particularly filtered, non-filtered, and/or processed raw data generated at the front end by a client (10) is filed. A filing component (43) which files data in archives (33) is provided for filing purposes as one of several service components (40) of a back end. Said archives (33) are formed by short-term archives (32) in the form of a database as well as long-term archives (31) in the form of a CAS-based data storage system. The short-term archives contain metadata while the complete accounting data is exported into the long-term archives (31) in which the data is stored by means of context-based identifications. In order to allow a search client (11;12) to search the long-term archives (31) on line, search criteria and identifications, with the aid of which the associated data can be read out of the long-term archives via the short-term archives when the sear client (11; 12) makes a corresponding query, are stored in the short-term archives (32). The invention thus makes it possible to use a hard disk system for filing accounting-relevant data without having to forego an online search.
