A fluorescence microscope is characterized by comprising a light source (4) having a light emitting diode as light source, an illumination optical system (4,5,6,7) which leads light from the light source (4) onto a specimen, an observation optical system (3,7,8,9,10) to which fluorescence emitted from the specimen is led, an imager (11) which images the fluorescence led to the observation optical system, and a controller (16) which controls lighting/light out of the light emitting diode (4) synchronously with imaging timing of the imager.
