The invention relates to a method for producing implant parts from highly cross-linked polyethylene, whereby a blank of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene is irradiated by means of ionised radiation in order to produce radicals. In order to optimise the cross-linking of the highly cross-liked polyethylene and to eliminate free radicals, the blank is subsequently post-treated by means of microwave radiation and/or ultrasound, that the non combined, free radicals are excited and a substantially complete recombination of the free radicals is achieved. The shape of the post-treated blank can be adapted by means of metal cutting. The invention also relates to implant parts for use in human medicine, which are produced according to the above-mentioned invention.
