A method and system for testing quality of service QoS in next generation network NGN, the NGN comprises of network manager, soft switch, and media gateway coupled sequent, wherein this method includes: soft switch sends testing control instruction according to the received testing instruction from gateway to the media gateways participated this testing, controls the media gateways participated this testing to establish testing channel; among the media gateways participated this testing transmits and receives the testing traffic stream through the established testing channel, collects QoS parameter and sends to soft switch; the soft switch sends the QoS parameter to network management device to make process. The present invention solves the problem that tested RTP traffic stream could not reflect QoS status of station network carrier of practicality traffic stream, result in the inaccurate testing result, and higher realizing cost, in active testing of QoS.
