The invention relates to the use of a compound which activates the activity of the PI3K synaptogenic pathway in the preparation of medicaments or pharmaceutical compositions for the prophylaxis and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases or diseases involving a synapse loss, such as Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease.
