摘要

The object is to provide a novel carbonyl reductase, a gene for the reductase, and a method for production of an optically active alcohol by using the reductase or the gene. Disclosed is: (a) DNA comprising a nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1 in the Sequence Listing; or (b) DNA which is capable of hybridizing with DNA comprising a nucleotide sequence complementary to a nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1 in the Sequence Listing under stringent conditions and encodes a polypeptide capable of reducing a compound having a carbonyl group to produce an optically active alcohol. Also disclosed is a method for production of an optically active alcohol by using the polypeptide or the like.
