The electric welding collar has at least one heated wire winding with contacts for feeding the electric current and a clamping element (16-19) arranged on the outer periphery of the welding collar. The clamping element can be removed and used again. The end of the collar has an annular rib (12,13) on the outer periphery of the collar. An independent claim is also included for a method of making pipeline connections with an inventive device.
