The invention relates to compositions, comprising at least one substance capable of binding to a pathogen-associated molecular patterns (PAMP) receptor and at least one tri-helical fibrous protein, a fragment or a variant thereof. According to a preferred embodiment, the tri-helical fibrous protein is pro-collagen, fragments or variants thereof. The invention further relates to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the above for prophylaxis/therapy and test kits, comprising the above for the diagnosis of connective tissue diseases. Furthermore, specific binding partners and the use thereof in pharmaceutical compositions for prophylaxis/therapy and in test kits for diagnosis are disclosed.
