A rheumatoid arthritis nonhuman animal model being deficient in DNase II and IFN type I receptor genes; a rheumatoid arthritis nonhuman animal model being potentially capable of undergoing conditional deficient in DNase II gene; and a method of constructing the same. A method of screening a substance having a therapeutic or preventive effect on rheumatoid arthritis which comprises administering a candidate substance to a rheumatoid arthritis nonhuman animal model as described above.
