FULLERENE-BASED MATERIAL AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING FULLERENE-BASED MATERIAL

In isolation and purification of an encapsulated fullerene, the encapsulated fullerene was concentrated in a residue by employing solvent washing with toluene. However, efficient purification could not be carried out because impurities other than the encapsulated fullerene could not be sufficiently removed. It was decided that by using a solvent with a high solubility of the encapsulated fullerene such as chloronaphthalene or tetralin, isolation and purification of encapsulated fullerene was carried out by concentrating the encapsulated fullerene in the solvent. The encapsulated fullerene isolated and purified by the solvent extraction has a cluster structure surrounded by an empty fullerene, and the stability of the encapsulated fullerene is high, therefore, it is a useful material which can be applied to various fields such as medical and electronics fields.
