An apparatus for storing pictures for a vehicle and a method of storing the pictures of the apparatus are provided to store the continuous accident by installing the picture element unit and the storage unit. A method of storing the pictures of the apparatus for storing the pictures for the vehicle is composed of a step(ST1) of recording a series of stoppage pictures at a picture element unit; a step(ST2) of continually storing the recorded series of pictures at a first block of the storage unit in the ring buffer method; a step(ST3) of deriving a first accident signal from the sensor unit; a step(ST4) of stopping the storage of the first block when the set time passes after the first accident signal derivation from the sensor unit and storing the pictures at a second block; a step(ST5) of deriving the second accident signal from the sensor unit; and a step(ST6) of stopping the storage of the second block when the set time passes after the second accident signal derivation from the sensor unit.
