The invention relates to a method for the clock pulse synchronisation of an amplitude- or phase-modulated received signal (r(t)) and a transmission signal (s(t)), according to which the estimation of the timing offset (ε) between the received signal (r(t)) and the transmission signal (s(t)) is executed by a maximum likelihood method. Said maximum likelihood method is achieved by a pre-filtering process that is dependent on the transmission characteristic, a subsequent non-linear signal processing function and a filtering process to obtain a mean value. The received signal (r(t)) is in particular an offset quadrature phase-modulated received signal. The non-linear signal processing function maintains the alternating components in the spectrum of the pre-filtered offset quadrature phase-modulated received signal (v(t)).
