A skin whitening cosmetic composition comprising an extract of Cinnamomum camphora Sieb. is provided to inhibit tyrosinase activity, thereby showing excellent melanogenesis inhibition effect. The skin whitening cosmetic composition comprises a crude extract of Cinnamomum camphora Sieb. as an effective ingredient. The extract is prepared with at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of water, C1-4 alcohol and a mixture thereof.
