Provided is a method for making red ginseng that has a maximized pharmaceutical effect derived from ginsenosides Rg3 or the like existing in ginseng, maintains a unique taste and flavor and is easily taken by users. The method for making red ginseng having an increased content of ginsenosides comprises steaming fresh ginseng or wild ginseng nine times and freeze-drying fresh ginseng or wild ginseng nine times. The fresh ginseng or wild ginseng is steamed, extracted and freeze-dried, and then is subjected to repeated steaming-freeze drying steps. The red ginseng having an increased content of ginsenosides obtained by the method is used to prepare various Chinese medicines.
