The web-shaped material useful as linoleum, comprises a cover layer exhibiting 40-80% of passively needlable leather particles and/or leather powders, wool and/or other natural/artificial fibers and a binding mass, and a carrier layer. The leather particles and/or powders are needled with the carrier layer by means of textile fibers. Leather chips as the leather particles are arranged in the cover layer and exhibit a length of 3-20 mm. The binding mass penetrates through the cover layer completely, is natural latex, animal- or vegetable glue. The binding mass is introduced from sides of the cover layer by padding of the material or is introduced into the material from downside of the cover layer or is impregnated into the material. An abrasion resistant mass is arranged above the bound cover layer, covers the entire cover layer and makes topside of the web-shaped material waterproof. The carrier layer consists of fabrics, woven fibers, a spun-bonded- or a non-woven fiber.
