METHOD FOR CHECKING THE OPERATIONAL STATUS OF A CS OR PS DOMAIN IN AN UMTS NETWORK NODE

Method to check the operational state of a CS or PS domain of a network node connected to an Iu interface of an UMTS network. A first network node connected at one end of the Iu interface notices the interruption of signalling of a specific domain of a second network node connected to other end of the Iu interface and sends a status request message to this specific domain of said node. In case of no reply within a given time interval the first node carries out actions to prevent mobile terminals from accessing to the services provided by said specific domain run out of service. The actions comprises updating of the system information to bar cells for the services of the specific domain or discarding paging messages.
