The invention relates to a device for determining the required length of a middle-ear prosthesis, comprising a disc-type base section (10), to which prosthetic elements (11, 11', 11') of differing lengths are fixed. After being detached from the base section (10), said elements can be introduced into the middle ear of a patient during an operation to determine the length of the element required. Said device is characterised in that the base section (10) is equipped with auxiliary elements for measuring and/or machining the middle-ear prosthesis that is to be inserted. This simplifies the manipulation of the prosthetic elements for the operator during the operation. No additional separate parts are required as the manipulation elements are attached to or integrated into the device, forming a compact construction.
