A METHOD OF PRODUCING ERYTHROPOIETIN HAVING THE ENHANCED SIALIC ACID CONTENT USING A LOWER MOLECULAR WEIGHT FRACTION OF SOY HYDROLYSATES AND ERYTHROPOIETIN HAVING THE ENHANCED SIALIC ACID CONTENT PRODUCED BY THE SAME
A method for producing erythropoietin(EPO) having increased sialic acid content by using a lower molecular weight fraction of soy hydrolysates, and erythropoietin having increased sialic acid content produced thereby are provided to enhance in vivo activity and half life of erythropoietin by increasing the content of sialic acid, and reduce cultivation costs of animal cells by using a serum-free and protein-free medium containing soy hydrolysates. The erythropoietin(EPO) having increased sialic acid content is produced by culturing an animal cell producing the erythropoietin in a serum-free and protein-free medium containing the lower molecular weight fraction of soy hydrolysates, wherein the animal cell producing the erythropoietin is CHO(Chinese hamster ovary) cell; the serum-free and protein-free medium is HyQCDM4CHO, DMEM(Dulbecco's modified eagle medium), RPMI or HAM's F12; and the amount of soy hydrolysate fraction of 5 kDa or less is 5-50%(w/w) based on the total dry weight of the medium.
