A task handling method of a mobile communication terminal supporting a wireless Internet platform is provided to be capable of handling an important task if an important task handling request is received, while services such as multimedia services, which are a large amount of operation, are provided on the wireless Internet platform, thus the stability of the terminal can be improved. Operation in accordance with a wireless Internet is performed at a core layer of a wireless Internet platform of a terminal(S210). It is confirmed whether a handling request of a task for an operating system is received at a handset application layer(S220). If so, it is confirmed whether the requested task is an important task(S230). If so, the operation at the core layer is interrupted(S240). The operating system carries out the requested important task(S250). If the performance of the important task is terminated, the operation at the core layer is resumed(S260,S270).
