A home service fault management method in a digital home service system and a system therefor are provided to collect and analyze fault information to help fault diagnosis, and to extract related fault statistical data from operation statistical data as quickly coping with similar faults by reusing fault records, thereby conducting more accurate fault management. When a request for fault reception information is received from a manager, a fault gateway information extractor(110) extracts information on a user and fault gateway information on a home gateway from which a fault is generated. A statistical information analyzer(130) extracts pre-stored statistical information by using the fault gateway information, and analyzes the extracted information. A fault information analyzer(120) collects fault information on a condition that the home gateway from which the fault is generated is normal, and transmits the collected information to the manager. A fault processor(140) registers fault management information and a determined fault type from the manager according to the fault gateway information, the statistical information, and the fault information, and manages fault records by storing the corresponding fault details.
