METHOD FOR SORTING FILES IN A DVD PLAYER

A method for collectively sorting files in a DVD(Digital Versatile Disk) player is provided to display all files in media without classifying directories when the media which backs up an MP3(MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group) layer 3) file, a JPG file, and a DivX(Digital video eXpress) file in the DVD player capable of playing multimedia information recorded as formats of DivX, MP3, and JPG as well as moving picture multimedia information recorded and stored as an MPEG-2 format. When optical disc media which store various multimedia data are inserted, a microcomputer recognizes kinds of data recorded in the media(S200,S202). The microcomputer reads header information of a file recorded by a track unit of the media, and stores the read header information in a memory(S204). The microcomputer displays the file information recorded in the media and a directory structure on a picture(S206). When file collective sorting is requested on the directory structure display picture(S208), the microcomputer sorts all the requested files from a plurality of lower directories and collectively displays the sorted files in a root directory(S210).
