GASTROPROTECTIVE ACTIVITY OF MOMORDICAE SEMEN EXTRACT

A pharmaceutical composition comprising an extract of Momordicae Semen is provided to show excellent inhibition activity on damage of gastric mucous membrane caused by diclofenac and alcohol, thereby capable of providing excellent gastroprotective activity. The pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating gastritis comprises an extract of Momordicae Semen as an effective ingredient. The extract is prepared by extracting Momordicae Semen with water or an aqueous solution of C1-6 alcohol. The composition further comprises a carrier, a forming agent and a diluent.
