摘要

Asides claims by traditional medical practitioners in South Western Nigeria, the efficacy of Musa paradisiaca in the management of gastric ulcer has been documented. The search for alternative methods for the management of gastric ulcer is increasing due to the associated side effects and high recurrence rate with conventional therapies. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and mucins are crucial for gastric ulcer healing. Against the backdrop of effectiveness of Musa paradisiaca in the management of gastric ulcer, this study aimed at assessing the ability of flavonoid-rich fraction of Musa paradisiaca to promote the expression of EGFR and mucins in the gastric corpus of Wistar rats following aspirin induced gastric lesion.
