ANTI-PINE WOOD NEMATODE COMPOUND CONTAINING EUGENOL EXTRACTED FROM EUGENIA CARYOPHYLLATA THUMB

An anti-pinewood nematode composition comprising eugenol is provided to show excellent controlling effect against pine tree nematode, an injurious insect, which is a direct cause of pine nematode disease, by significantly decreasing the individuals of the pine tree nematode when a pine tree infected by the pine tree nematode is treated therewith, thereby being applied as a biochemical pesticide. The anti-pinewood nematode composition comprises eugenol extracted from Eugenia caryophyllata Thumb. The eugenol is prepared by pulverizing dried flower buds of Eugenia caryophyllata Thumb, adding 10 times weight of 90% hydrogenated alcohol regarding the pulverized Eugenia caryophyllata Thumb thereto and extracting it at a temperature of 25 deg.C for 12 hours. In the composition, the concentration of the eugenol is 0.05-100 vol.%.
