INTERFACE CIRCUIT, SYSTEM DEVICE USING THE INTERFACE CIRCUIT, AND DATA INTERFACE METHOD

An interface circuit, a system device using the same, and a data interface method are provided properly to transfer data according to a data transfer mode of a memory card by interfacing data transfer between a host device and the memory card. At least two interface blocks(4,6,8,18) performs the data transfer. A card identifying circuit(20) identifies the transfer mode corresponding to a peripheral by accessing the connected peripheral. The data transfer mode between the host device(12) and the peripheral is determined based on the data transfer mode corresponding to the peripheral. If the connected peripheral corresponds to the first data transfer mode, the interface circuit is operated in the first data transfer mode. If the connected peripheral does not correspond to the first data transfer mode, the interface circuit is operated in the second data transfer mode. The connected peripheral is a CF(Compact Flash) card(16), the first data transfer mode is a true IDE(Integrated Drive Electronics) mode, and the second data transfer mode is a PC card ATA(Advanced Technology Attachment) mode.
