MANAGEMENT METHOD OF MOBILITY STATE MACHINE FOR USER'S MOBILITY CONTROL IN HIGH-SPEED PORTABLE INTERNET SYSTEM

A method for operating a mobility state machine for user mobility management in a portable Internet system is provide to enable the one mobility state machine to integrally manage serving cell handover between sectors, serving cell handover between base stations, handover between PARs, target cell handover between sectors, target cell handover between base stations, and target cell handover between PARs, thereby efficiently managing the mobility of a user and processing abnormal situations which may generated during the handover processes. A method for operating a mobility state machine comprises the following steps of: analyzing handover candidate cell information included in a handover request message in a PRIM-HO-START state; transferring from the PRIM-HO-START state to a PRIM-SECTOR-HO-START state when deciding handover between sectors after the analysis; transferring from PRIM-HO-START state to a PRIM-AP-HO-START state when deciding handover between base stations after the analysis; and transferring from the PRIM-HO-START state to a PRIM-OLD-PAR-HO-START state when deciding serving handover between PARs(Packet Access Routers) after the analysis.
