METHOD FOR CHANGING INTERFACE PARAMETER BETWEEN HARD DISK DRIVE AND HOST USING BIST AND HARD DISK DRIVE THEREFOR

An interface parameter controlling method between a host and an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) by using a BIST(Built In Self Test) and the HDD which performs the method are provided to control a parameter value which influences interface performance of the HDD and the host through the BIST, thereby reducing a data error and improving the interface performance. An HDD receives a protocol start command from a host(S210,S215). The HDD transmits a response signal equivalent to the protocol start command, and is transferred to a test standby state(S310,S220). After being transferred to the test standby state, the HDD conducts a BIST by changing at least one interface parameter(S315-S325), and controls the at least one interface parameter on the basis of the BIST results(S230-S240).
