A hybrid driving apparatus for a PMOLED(Passive Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) display device is provided to represent 256 grayscale by outputting a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) signal, which is generated from a 6-bit PWM generator and manipulated by a 2-bit current DAC(Digital to Analog Converter). A hybrid driving apparatus for a PMOLED display device includes a data driver IC controller(600), a data driver IC(650), and a scan driver(700). The data driver IC controller outputs 8-bit data by 2 and 6 bits at a time. The data driver IC receives the data from the driver IC controller and generates 4-step PWM signals, and drives a PMOLED panel corresponding to the generated signal. The scan driver outputs scan data to the PMOLED panel in response to a control signal from the driver IC controller. The data driver IC includes a PWM generator(651), a current DAC(652), a current source(653), a switch unit(654), and a reset switch(655). The PWM generator receives the 6-bit data from the driver IC controller and generates 256-step output pulses. The current source adjusts a current pulse magnitude in response to an analog signal from the current DAC. The switch unit is turned on/off by an output pulse from the PWM generator. The reset switch is connected to the other terminal of the switch unit.
