Multipotent Adult Stem Cells Having an Ability of Oct4 Expression Derived from Umbilical Cord Blood and Method for Preparing the Same

An adult stem cell is provided to have multi-potent capability of being differentiated into osteogenic cells, neurons and the like, thereby being usefully used for treating incurable disease and fatal diseases. The method for preparing an adult stem cell is characterized in that monocyte isolated from umbilical cord blood is cultured in a culture medium containing bFGF and human serum or plasma and then recovered therefrom, and the adult stem has characteristics of having Oct4 expression capacity, having all positive immunological property to CD24, CD29, CD31, CD33, CD45 and CD49B and all negative immunological property to CD62L, CD62P, CD73, CD90, CD133 and CD135, being adhered to plastic to grow, showing morphological property of round-shape or spindle-shape, and being differentiated into mesoderm, endoderm and ectoderm derived cells. In the method, each content of the bFGF and human serum or plasma is respectively 1-30 ng/ml and 5-30%, and the culture medium is alpha-MEM.
