An apparatus and a method for iterative channel estimation using training sequence in a DS-UWB(Ultra Wide Band) system are provided to increase data transmission efficiency by reducing the length of the training sequence. A transmitter unit transmits a transmission signal where a training sequence insertion part(170) inserts a training sequence. A receiver unit comprises a rake receiver(210) receiving the signal transmitted from the transmitter unit, a sliding window channel estimator(220) estimating a channel according to a sliding window channel estimation algorithm on the basis of the training sequence of the receiving signal received in the rake receiver, and a correlation remover(280) removing correlation between multi path components by receiving largest channel impulse response and corresponding time delay value from the sliding window channel estimator.
