ULTRA NARROW VERTICAL MACHINING CENTER WITH COLUMN INSIDE AUTO TOOL CHANGER

An ATC column embedded ultra-narrow vertical machining center is provided to reduce the installing area by more than sixty percent while maintaining the same machining capacity as a conventional machining center. A vertical machining center includes a base(B), a column(12), a Y-axis slide, a Z-axis table, a main shaft, an automatic tool exchange unit(14), and a C-axis index table. The column is installed on the upper side of the base. The Y-axis slide is installed at an upper portion of the column and is moved forward and rearward. The Z-axis table is installed on the front surface of the Y-axis slide and is moved upward and downward. The main shaft is vertically mounted on the front surface of the Z-axis table. The automatic tool exchange unit is of an armless gripper type and is embedded in the column. The C-axis index table has an index table rotated by a servo motor mounted on the upper side of the base at the front side of the column. The C-axis index table is moved according to the CY-axis coordinate and the automatic tool exchange unit is driven by the servo motor.
