A composition for prevention and treatment of ischemia cerebrovascular disease comprising the extract of Ziziphus jujuba MILL.(jujube) is provided to prevent damage of neuronal cells of hippocampus tissue CA1 region and inhibit apoptosis of neuronal cells without side effects. A composition for prevention and treatment of ischemia cerebrovascular disease comprises the extract of Ziziphus jujuba MILL. which is prepared by extracting with water, methanol, ethanol, butanol or a mixed solvent thereof, wherein the ischemia cerebrovascular disease is cerebral infarction, stroke, cerebral hemorrhage or subarachnoidal hemorrhage, and the composition is a pharmaceutical or health food composition formulated as powder, granule, tablet, capsule or drink.
