The composition for treating and preventing obesity comprises the extract of Zizyphus jujuba Mill. var. inermis Rehder as an effective ingredient, wherein the Zizyphus jujuba Mill. var. inermis Rehder extract is prepared with a solvent selected from water, ethanol and methanol; the amount of the Zizyphus jujuba Mill. var. inermis Rehder extract is 0.1-50 wt.%; the daily dosage of Zizyphus jujuba Mill. var. inermis Rehder extract is 0.0001 to 100 mg/kg; and the composition is a health food composition.
