Positioning method using Differential GPS (DGPS)

The method involves a reference station (2), the precise geographical position of which is known. A GPS receiver (5), which determines its pseudo-position. From these two positional data, the DPGS correction data is generated, and is transmitted by radio to a mobile unit. From the correction data, and the pseudo-position provided by the mobile unit GPS receiver, a corrected position can be determined. The radio transmitter is part of a mobile radio network with one or more base stations, in one of which is included a reference station (2) which passes the DGPS correction data to the base station. The data is then transmitted by the base station to the mobile unit, via the mobile radio network, to further mobile radio subscribers.
