The mounting system for stone cladding (2) on the facades of buildings comprises a conical pin (7, 7a) which fits into a corresponding bore (4, 4a) in the edge of the stone slab. The base of the pin is attached to a metal strip (14) cemented into the masonry. The pin may be fixed in place using a curable filler (8) around its tip or a rubber sealant (16), in which case it has a ball-joint (15) at its tip, allowing play.
