Closing the toe end of a sock in which at least the toe region (2) is knitted in the form of a tube (1) comprises sewing up the opening (1a) at the toe end of the tube with a seam following the line of the toes and cutting the projecting material (1b) from the toe region immediately before sewing. An independent claim is also included for a sock produced as above.
